Aliso Viejo, I paid a visit and let me tell you — did not disappoint… well, not too much, anyway. Most of the sparkle seems to be tucked inside that one shopping center, but a lady takes what she can get.
Size-wise, you’re a petite little number — about seven square miles and fifty-something-thousand people. I like that. Not too big, not too small. You’re like a perfectly tailored cocktail dress: Tasteful. Chic.
Bordered by Lagunas on every side and lounging next to a wilderness park, you’re giving me “suburban chic with a nature view.”
I started my morning at Brown Sugar Oats, because sometimes a lady needs her sweetness in a bowl. Then, on a whim, I graced Omomo Tea Shop. Let’s just say, y’all got lucky with that one. And dinner? Oh honey, Trattoria Trullo Cucina Italiana was spectacular.
Now, history check, because I do my homework:
- Once upon a time, you were Rancho Niguel, back when Mexico was running the show.
- You stayed farmland until the ‘70s, when someone in polyester bell-bottoms decided, “Why not make a master-planned community?”
- Then in 2001, you finally incorporated — one of Orange County’s youngest little cities. And baby, you’re coming along just fine.
But let’s talk about your shiny new bauble — The Commons at Aliso Viejo Town Center. A 21-acre redevelopment finished in 2024 (though let’s be honest, y’all are still hammering away at it). Tesla, Philz Coffee, and Eureka! and now, a Lucky Strike bowling alley on the way?
So here’s the report: it’s got brains (those high-performing schools), beauty (your parks and neighborhoods), and now, with that Town Center? A little bit of sparkle. Keep it up, Aliso Viejo — you just might earn another visit soon.
